Young Student Movement
An awareness programme by YSM
The Young Students Movement (YSM) is a movement which provides a platform for the students to change their lives in accordance to its motto- ‘to create a just society’. This movement teaches the students to change their lives and change others too in order to build a just society. Keeping the YSM motto as their aim, the St Theresa’s Young Students Movement was established in the year 2019-20 under the able guidance and encouragement of Sister Philomene Saldanha, the Principal.
The YSM unit of St Theresa’s School started with 40 members which included students from grades VII and VIII. Under the guidance of YSM animator Mr Pramod, the unit has conducted various activities for the members of the movement. In the academic year 2019-20, Ayush Rao of grade VIII became the Secretary of YSM Mangalore diocese.
At present the School YSM has 55 members. Students are divided into 5 cells of 11 members each. To create awareness towards the cleanliness of the surroundings and to learn the dignity of labour, a cleaning activity was conducted on the 2nd of March. Members of the movement took active part in cleaning the surroundings of the School. The School Principal Sr Philomene Saldanha, Vice Principal Sr Lourdes and Animator Mr Pramod were present during the activity and motivated the students. The movement aspires to take up more of such awareness programs in order to encourage the youth to help make the world a better place.
