SAP MUN
St Theresa’s win the Over-all Championship at SAP MUN (St Aloysius Pre- University Model United Nations)
With weeks of preparation and excitement embedded in us, 29 pupils of St Theresa’s School set out for Model United Nations held at St Aloysius Pre-University on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of November, 2019. It was an enriching experience for all, as most of us were first timers to participate in MUN. There were five committees for High School level namely the General Assembly (GA), the Lok Sabha, United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the International Press. Students from various Schools and Colleges as delegates were in attendance to participate in this jubilant event. All three days of MUN was significant to every one of us and the experience was worthwhile.
We were to represent ourselves in our respective committees as the appointed delegates which were truly a stand of honour for each and every one. There were five sessions for each committee filled with mature discussions, heated debates, and expressive opinions and so on. MUN was thrilling and enchanting at the same time for it was a real world simulation of the greatest peacemaking associations all around the world. The committees felt surreal with the presence of a Chairperson and rules of formality of addressing fellow delegates. An MUN is beneficial to every growing mind in enhancing his/her speaking skills and confidence and a salient feature of the MUN was socializing. This was a platform to make new friends and voice out opinions that won’t go unheard; a world of sheer joy and enjoyment. The ambience was lovely and every moment here was memorable. Three days was spent and cherished by all in learning new things and strengthening the roots of public speaking.
Our MUN experience from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony was wonderful. The results had come out with flying colours for the Theresians had won the best delegation among all other schools and students had secured three places at the event namely Himanshu Shetty and Matthew Saldhana with High Commendation , Sai Pranav Kishan with Special Mention and Poorvi S with Honourable Mention. Holding the Best Delegation cup upstage was a real moment of pure jubilance to every Theresians. The journey was the true prize which will stand in our hearts forever. The sweet results wouldn’t be possible without our Principal and Vice-Principal and teachers for being our guiding light throughout a successful MUN. We are indebted to all for their uplifting prayers and support for us through and through this exciting quest.
