The cadets of St. Theresa’s School Mangalore participated in the Puneeth Sagar Abhiyan- Beach cleaning program which was held in the first week of April 2022 from 4:30 pm till 6:00 pm organized by 18 Kar Bn NCC, Mangalore.
The cadets along with the NCC caretaker Ms. Ashel D Silva went to the Ullal beach.
The beach cleaning event was formally inaugurated by The Commanding Officer, 18 Kar Bn NCC in his inaugural speech mentioned the importance of keeping the beach clean, problems faced by the Marine life because of the pollution and how youth can contribute in maintaining the cleanliness and spreading awareness to others.
After the formal program, cadets were provided with the gloves and bags for collecting waste. The cadets along with the NCC caretaker and ANO’s started picking up the plastic waste from the shore and helped keep the environment clean.
Refreshment was provided to all the cadets and staff before the closing of the event.
This event helped the cadets become more aware of creating a safer environment not only for the human beings but also for the aquatic animals. The cadets engaged themselves in the social service program and got a good exposure. The cadets expressed their happiness towards the School for providing such an exciting opportunity.
