Environment Day Assembly at St Theresa’s School

The students of Grades 4C and 4D of St Theresa’s School conducted a meaningful and inspiring Environment Day Assembly to spread awareness about the importance of protecting our planet. The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr Denzil Kiran Machado, Head of the Department of Commerce, St Aloysius P.U. College. The school Principal, Sr Lourdes, and Vice Principal, Sr Vidya, also graced the occasion.

The assembly commenced with a solemn prayer service, invoking God’s blessings for the well-being of Mother Earth and all living beings. This was followed by a warm welcome address, extending heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, teachers, and students.

The students then highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and spoke about the 2026 theme, which focuses on climate action and restoring our relationship with nature, inspiring everyone to work together for a greener and more sustainable future. (UNEP – UN Environment Programme⁠)

A thought-provoking Kannada skit on environmental conservation beautifully conveyed the message of protecting nature through simple everyday actions. The students’ confident performances and meaningful dialogues left a lasting impact on the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr Denzil Kiran Machado encouraged the students to become responsible custodians of the environment by adopting eco-friendly habits and inspiring others to do the same. He reminded them that every small step towards conserving nature contributes to a healthier planet.

In her address, Principal Sr Lourdes appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers in organising the assembly. She urged everyone to practise environmental responsibility every day and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal, the Vice Principal, teachers, and everyone who contributed to the success of the assembly. The gathering ended on a patriotic note with the singing of the School Anthem.

The Environment Day Assembly served as a timely reminder that caring for the Earth is a shared responsibility and that every individual has the power to make a positive difference.
