The students of Grades 5B and 5C of St Theresa’s School, Bendur, celebrated the Foundation Day of the Bethany Congregation with heartfelt devotion and vibrant cultural expressions. The occasion honoured the enduring legacy of Msgr. Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas, the visionary founder of the Bethany Congregation, whose mission continues to inspire the school’s values and spirit.
The celebration was graced by Fr Vincent DSouza, Director of CODP; Sr Shaila, the School Correspondent; and Sr Vidya, the Vice Principal. The event began with the lighting of the lamp, symbolising wisdom and divine guidance, followed by a prayer service that set a reverent tone for the day.
In a thoughtful gesture, saplings were gifted to the dignitaries and all the Bethany sisters of the school, reflecting the themes of growth, gratitude, and new beginnings. A graceful welcome dance by the students added colour and charm to the celebration.
The programme featured a captivating line-up of performances, including a vibrant cultural dance, a skit on the life of the Founder, and a presentation of Bethany’s core values—compassion, service, simplicity, and excellence—encouraging students to live out these ideals in their daily lives.
In his address, Fr Vincent commended the students and staff for their commendable efforts in organising the celebration. He encouraged them to be rooted in human values while embracing innovations like Artificial Intelligence, balanced by emotional intelligence and compassion.
Sr Shaila, in her message, reminded the students of their identity as ambassadors of Bethany. She highlighted the congregation’s mission and its global outreach in education, healthcare, social work, and pastoral service, urging the children to “spread the flame of Bethany wherever you go.”
The celebration concluded with the resonant singing of the Bethany Anthem, filling the hall with pride and devotion. The event was a touching tribute to a legacy that continues to shape the hearts and minds of the Bethany family.
