On a bright and joyful morning, St.Theresa's School, Mangalore campus, resonated with laughter and cheer as students, teachers, and special guests gathered to celebrate Children's Day on 11th November, 2023. A Eucharistic celebration was celebrated by Fr Robert DSouza, the Principal of Lourdes Central School, Bejai, prayed for all the children of the School. This special occasion was not only about celebrating the innocent smiles of our young learners but also paying tribute to one of India's most beloved leaders, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was fondly referred to as "Chacha Nehru" by the children.
The event began with an auspicious invocation of blessings through a mesmerizing prayer dance that transported everyone into a world of serenity and devotion. It set the perfect tone for the day, reminding us of the importance of spirituality and mindfulness in our lives.
Sr. Lourdes, the esteemed Principal of the School, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Dr Flossy Dsouza, Professor in Education and Controller of Examinations, St.Anns' PG studies and research in education who graced the occasion with her presence. Alongside the Headboy, Allen Rasquinha and Headgirl, Damini Shetty, were honoured as guests of honour, symbolizing the student body's leadership and excellence.
A burst of laughter filled the air as a delightful Kannada Skit, known as the "bubble of comedy," was performed to bring out the innate joy and humour that resides in every child the skit captivated everyone's hearts, reminding us of the innocence and carefree spirit that we often tend to lose as we grow up.
Teachers, the pillars of wisdom and guidance, joined in the celebration with a mesmerizing dance performance that expressed their deep emotions and love for the children. It was a poignant moment that highlighted the teacher-student bond and the importance of nurturing the young minds of the future.
The hall resonated with heartwarming melodies as singers serenaded the audience, sending their best wishes to the children on this special day. The songs filled the hearts of the attendees with warmth and joy, reaffirming the significance of this occasion.
In the final moments of the event, the Headgirl, with heartfelt gratitude, expressed her appreciation to the teachers for their dedication, support, and unwavering commitment to the students' growth and well-being.
The Children's Day celebration at our school was a beautiful amalgamation of tradition, culture, and pure joy. It reminded everyone of the importance of nurturing the innocence and creativity of children, just as Jawaharlal Nehru envisioned. This day left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who attended, rekindling the spirit of childhood and the teachings of Chacha Nehru.
The PTA members of the school distributed cone ice cream to all the children of the School.
