St Theresa’s School organised a leadership training program for the newly elected cabinet members of the school for the next academic year. The resource person of the day was Dr Ashwini Colaco. The School Principal Sr Lourdes was the other dignitary present for the program along with the class teachers of grade IV and grade IX.
The session began with a short prayer service seeking God’s blessings, especially upon the elected leaders to do their duties diligently. After a brief introduction about the guest speaker, the session began with the speaker asking the students about what they thought leadership was all about. This was followed by an icebreaker game which helped all the cabinet members ease up a bit and get ready to engage themselves thoroughly in the program ahead of them.
The leaders were made to understand that they can leave a simple mark and inspire others in the right direction. They were also made to understand that concentrating on their goal was important along with engaging themselves in their academic and extracurricular activities. The one year of leadership where the leaders get to showcase their talents and the change they bring about in the school campus is very important was stressed by the speaker.
Inspire, Ignite and Innovate - were the 3 key points the speaker spoke about to the leaders during the program today. Examples of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi for Leading by Example, Mother Theresa for Empathy, Swami Vivekananda for Awareness of Self, Alexander the Great for Discipline, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam for Engaging Others, and King Ashoka for Reaching Out to People.
The senior cabinet members were especially made aware to be role models to the junior cabinet members using a game which was a good end to the training program.
The newly elected leaders were made to be aware and focused on their responsibilities to make a difference in themselves, their school and society. The appointed leaders enjoyed this session with a deeper understanding of their responsibilities through this interactive session. The program ended with a vote of thanks by a student leader.
The leadership training program was a success and each appointed leader went home carrying some pointers to remember and follow during their one-year tenure.
