First day for the Pre-KG students of St Theresa’s School:
The first day of kindergarten is a significant milestone for both children and parents. It is common for young children to experience a range of emotions, including anxiety and reluctance to separate from their parents. Today, several students displayed signs of distress, including crying and expressing a strong desire not to attend school.
-A number of students arrived visibly upset, with some crying and clinging to their parents.
Several children verbally expressed their reluctance to stay at school and asked to go back home. -Tearful and anxious behaviour was noted among many students.
Some children refused to let go of their parent's hands and needed extra comfort and reassurance.
The teacher and staff provided comforting words and gentle reassurance to the children.
Extra time was given to each child to help them feel more secure and comfortable. -Parents were allowed to stay for a brief period to help their children acclimate to the new environment.
Teachers encouraged parents to create a positive and exciting narrative about school to help reduce anxiety.
Fun and engaging activities were organized to distract the children and capture their interest.
Interactive games and toys were introduced to help the students feel more at ease.
By the end of the day, some children began to settle down and engage with the activities.
While a few students remained upset, most showed signs of gradual adjustment and curiosity about their new environment.
Continue to talk positively about school and its activities at home.
Establish a consistent morning routine to provide a sense of stability.
Encourage and praise your child for their bravery in attending school.
The first day of kindergarten is often challenging for young children as they adjust to a new environment and routine. With continued support and encouragement from both teachers and parents, it is expected that the students will gradually become more comfortable and enjoy their time at school.
