Abraham Lincoln has rightly quoted:
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four, sharpening the axe”. Keeping this in view, a seminar was conducted to recollect and sharpen ourselves before beginning the new academic year 2023-24.
The Principal of St.Theresa's School Sr.Lourdes welcomed the resource person of the day Mr..C.C.Pawate, a Development advisor and awardee of State level – Adarsha Samaja Seva Dampatigalu and District Youth People Awardee with a sapling to make the Earth a greener place to live on.
Mr.Pawate has helped in the establishment of Counselling centers to solve psychological problems, so the main focus on the subject was Human Psychology and emotional skills.
He stressed 3 main developments in teachers
1. Mind-set. 2. Skill set 3.The mood of teaching and learning.
It was a brainstorming session and highly appreciated the discussion with him. He made us realize that each one of us has the ability to teach the children whom we are capable of. A teacher of L.kg cannot handle students of Std X. Similarly a high school teacher cannot handle students of kindergarten.
We should appreciate every child and encourage the uniqueness of the child. A child should not be complimented only for academics but we must also recognize and appreciate children who are excellent in art, sports, and dance as well. Talk good about a student to his/ her best friend.
He discouraged the use of mobile phones because it does not promote imagination and creativity. If we lose our imagination we are equal to animals who cannot imagine.
The more we love, the more goodwill starts by having patience, listening capacity increases and a sense of sacrifice develops. Many motivational videos were shown on people who are physically handicapped, blind, or deaf and have achieved success due to the belief that they can do it. So we should think, “Everything is possible. “ Students ' involvement in classroom activities is a Must.
As teachers and educationists, we have our own challenges and shortcomings . The seminar helped us to welcome new trysts, new questions, new problems new solutions, and new heights.
The seminar was highly engaging, fruitful, and beneficial for the teaching faculty of St.Theresa’s School. This seminar has helped us broaden our thinking and transform our understanding of the job we are entrusted with.
