September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities, and societies. This year's theme for World Literacy Day is “Literacy for a human-centered recovery: Narrowing the digital divide”. The theme of ILD 2021 is set to create more awareness among the people regarding digital literacy. The students of St Theresa’s school celebrated the event by tutoring an individual who wasn’t fortunate enough to get schooling privileges in their locality between 4th September to 9th September. The selected person was tutored for half an hour every day by the student. They kept going with the spirit of the quote ‘ Every single drop counts ‘. The photos were clicked of the teaching-learning process and the written work of the person on the last day was shared. Prizes were awarded for the best work to motivate the students to continue this outreach program in the coming years too. Through this activity, the students learned that only by educating society can we hope to make the world a better place for everyone. The very proud smiles on every student’s face on the last day of this activity were proof of the success of this activity.
