As St Theresa’s School celebrated the 75 years of Free India 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' the noble tricoloured flag fluttered high above us. All Theresians gathered to celebrate the relentless efforts made by the people of our nation.
The celebration took place on the Theresian ground as every Theresian found their heart filled with joy and a feeling of immense pride. The guests were welcomed with a guard of honour by the School band headed by Aditi Chougal. Our Chief Guest for the day, Mr Nithin Shetty CA, the parent of Avanika Shetty of class IX A,Sr Shaila BS, the Correspondent of the School graced this occasion and were escorted to the dais by our Principal, Sr Lourdes and Sr Caron, the Vice Principal.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag and every heart resonated with the National Anthem. The programme began by invoking God's blessings led by Aatmika Sai Krishnan. The Chief Guest was introduced and Mrs Sela Saldanha welcomed the august gathering.
Ishan Pinto highlighted India's glorious years of progress since the time of its independence. Cultural dance and a patriotic song sung by the students of Class X signified the culture and tradition of our country which mesmerized the audience.
A very inspiring and stirring speech was rendered by the Chief Guest Mr. Nithin Shetty. The chief guest complemented the efforts of the staff in the success of the day's program in training the students right from the guard of honour. He gave the students a message about love. He urged the students to go the extra mile and respect all the elders in their lives, including all the helping staff, to receive and spread love. He gave them the 3 D’s to succeed in their life: Dream, Desire, and Discipline.
The programme was compered by Class x students Rachel Saldanha and Roy Saldanha. The entire ceremony was well organised by our PT Instructor Mrs. Anitha.
The theme of this year’s Independence Day being ‘Nation first, always first’ was felt throughout the program. The whole gathering was given a feeling of cherishing the ones who made our independence possible. The program ended with everyone appreciating and celebrating the great miracle of freedom.
