BETHANY CHAMPIONS

A day of Retreat for the students of St Theresa’s School, Bendur:

Nobody else can touch in the same way that the Almighty does. The Catholic students of St Theresa's School, Bendur, Mangalore, who are in grades III through X, had a one-day retreat at Bethany Convent, Mother House Chapel on December 2, 2023.
Fr. Suraj Lobo and the choir lit the morning with praise and worship. The assembly was invigorated and inspired to comprehend God's word by dancing and chanting praises to the Almighty God.

As the day went on, the lessons on patience, kindness, and forgiveness were covered. There was an hour of adoration where the students could spend time in prayer. Fr Suraj Lobo enriched the students through his talk on "Repentance." He readied the pupils for an effective confession.
Six priests assisted the students by providing their services for confession. The Holy Eucharist with a soul lifting homily strengthened the students' relationship with Jesus. The day was spent in a meaningful and fruitful way by the students in the presence of the divine.

Bethany Champions

Bethany Champions is a movement of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany under the auspices of The Bethany Educational Society , Mangalore to bring the best out of our young people following the great dreams of our Founder the Servant of God Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas. The best way to empower the youth he understood was to give them good Catholic Education with spiritual and moral foundation. He went in search of the youth who were talented but due to poverty could not pursue their studies and make it possible to them to make a mark in their life. In the footsteps of our Founder and heeding to the signs of the times Bethany has ventured into a project of focussing on youth leadership since the XV General Chapter in bringing them from all the Provinces of the Congregation under one banner ‘Bethany Champions’. Its vision is to form a group of Catholic students of high intelligence and good calibre and to motivate them to aspire towards leadership in civil and political arena. It is to show them a new way to justice, peace and solidarity in a society where political, cultural, educational and economical intolerance is observed. In other words, it is to make them salt of the earth and the light of the world.

  • To lead the young to God-experience
  • To foster gospel values
  • To build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • To enhance respect for life, nature, cultures, religions and love for nation
  • To promote excellence by tapping the dormant potentialities
  • To form competent leaders for the transformation of the society
